Blossoms

I've completed a lot of tutorials over the years. Though not many have encouraged loose painting quite like this one. I enjoyed the narration of the psychological process of control versus letting go. Must admit I struggle with painting loosely and had to go over some of my painting as I'd missed a lot of mid tones. Something about the technique of intentionally painting loosely doesn't come up as flawlessly  for me but I suspect will improve with time and practice.

what can I do to improve my technique of making loose shapes look less uniform, such as the rocks underneath the building on the right? And every time I try to paint a dot, I end up with a line. I've been experimenting with synthetic and sable, black velvet brushes etc.
