I can really see the progress from the sparrow to the quail to the robin! I think the quail is my favorite, though. I have a soft spot for goofy-looking creatures.

 

Update: After a week of practice. Getting down the base shapes definitely helps with proportions and keeps me from fixating on small details before the basic shapes and lines are right.

Owls are just not shaped like other birds. Like, sir you are not following any of the rules.
