Basics of Art

This is the first time I have ever been able to draw an eye. I saw the 3 minute challenge and did my own.

Then I used the shading tips from this class and further developed it. I drew in HB pencil and used charcoal pencil for the iris. Then I used a brush to blend charcoal powder to make the texture of the skin.

I tried to do a more manly type of eye, with shorter eyelashes and a thicker and fuller eyebrow. Thank you so much Ava for the lesson, it was really really helpful.

Assignment 3: Charcoal Pencils

Did this using charcoal pencils. I used a stump to blend it all and maintain texture, and also to create the shadow.

Assignment 6: Combination tools

I used charcoal pencils to draw this football to create deeper shades of black and grey. I used a brush to blend the charcoal. Finally, I used graphite powder and a brush to create the shadow. I struggled to make the actual ball look 3D however, because there are already so many tones on the ball.

Assignment 7: Creating Textures

Done using charcoal pencils, stump for blending, and stump blending over erased areas to create texture on texture.

Assignment 8: Surface shading 1

I did some surface shading of some still objects at home.

I did this piggy-bank image with a mixture of pencils and shaded with a brush. I then used my eraser to add highlights.

Assignment 9: Surface Shading 2

I attempted to do surface shading of a crystal. I used a HB pencil to draw and shade, and then shaded further with a brush. I added highlights using an eraser. I feel like the main highlight doesn't look as realistic.
