I wanted to create something custom and unique for a friends new baby. They have a woodland theme for the baby room, and had a color scheme already selected so I wanted to design something around that. I set up a pinterest moodboard and added imagry to help brainsorm and serve as a reference for sketching.

I didn't spend a lot of time on sketching/brainstorming because I already had an idea of what I wanted to do, plus the due date was coming so I had to get this done pretty quick :)

I wanted to show a baby deer meeting a baby bunny in a sunlit meadow. The colors of my friends place are really earthy, browns and greens and oranges, so I wanted to make sure I created something that went with the rest of the decor. The babys room is a soft yellow so I thought that keeping a lot of green in the project with hints of accent colors would be nice.

I seleced colors based off their palette, with a few additional accents thrown in for more variety. 

And here is the finished piece...

I painted the clouds on blue paper for the background and used varying greens/yellows for the background trees. The bunny ended up being the same tone as those background trees so I put a dark green plant behind him to make him pop out more. I also painted shadows under the deer and bunny since the sun is shining direcly on them. 

I will be getting a new camera to take a better photo. The colors in this picture are a little off and grainy.
