Answers to the questions

Answers to the questions - student project

#1 Which do I struggle with the most – the pilot, the plany or the engineer? In what specific way?

I struggle with the engineer. In fact, I’ve never used this mode! Maybe this is the issue I’ve been having with productivity. What specific way? Sometimes my plane has no fuel – I don’t schedule brakes, when I do get them, they are… not very nourishing.

#2

What am i avoiding with the phrase "I don’t have time"

Tasks, which are good for me, but are boring. I always use this phrase with those specific tasks.

#3

What's a goal i want to achieve ? Create my Notion iOS

How can i make the process more pleasurable? I could use music and very good tea to make it happen.

Can i increase my odds of hitting the goal by putting money on the line? I could put money on the line and tell my husband if I don’t finish this by March, he can use the money to buy his video gear.

How can i make the outcomes more tangible and desirable? I can break the big project to micro tasks, which I could complete in 20 minutes a day. Each day I can checkbox if I’ve done the work.

#4

What's the one (or more) situations when i was in my "flow state"? When I write my newsletter.

What circumstances and mindsets led to that? Deep focus and closing all distractions. Telling myself I can either write, or do nothing.

Can i manufacture those conditions for other stuff that i need/want to do? I could always close the distractions and make this point – either do XYZ or NOTHING. My brain hates nothing.

#5

Make a list of 3-4 long term tasks you want to do.

  1. Launch my website
  2. Launch my first online course
  3. Learn AI

What would you do if you only had half as long to do them?

  1. I would make fast choices and ditch being perfect.

What about if you had to do them in the next 24 hours?

  1. I would set up a “bare minimum plan”. Get the essential tasks that need to be done for the project to launch.

#6

What 20% of my work is driving 80% of my useful output?

  • Creating my newsletter.
  • Showing myself fully at work – not shying away from the camera.

And whats taking up 80% of my time but not actually contributing much to my outcomes?

  • Going over every single part of my website, because “it’s not perfect enough”

#7

Turn of this class and go do something you've been pitting off

I wrote my newsletter!

#8

What 3 things would boost my productivity if i made them a habit?

How can i help make those habits stick?

  1. No distraction routine (Phone in desk drawer, one tab opened, headphones with focus music) – I could keep a post it on my desk helping me remember this. Focus time on my phone.
  2. Shuffling standing and sitting every task switch – Also PostIt “stand up!”
  3. Starting my day with writing down my 3 objectives for today. – I could have my calendar on my desk, so It’s the 1st thing I see when I come to work.

#9

What are some chunks of the day in i find myself wasting time in ways i'd rather not?

What useful (small) things could i do with that time instead?

  1. Evenings – I’m tired and all I want is to go to the couch. I could read fiction, I could listen to an episode of something productive.
  2. Work brakes – I scroll too much. What could I do instead? I could meditate for 5 minutes. I could dance (movement) I could work on the Notion iOS.

#10

What items on my bucket/task list can i procrastinate my way to progress on? How so?

  1. I could create my Notion iOS during procrastination time

#11

What do i have to in my days that im currently not enjoying?

If i had to, how would i make this stuff more fun?

  1. Mornings – getting my child ready for preschool. I could put on an energetic playlist, make his breakfast fun.
  2. Getting work started. I need to find the most epic music for focus. Maybe I could start the work standing? Hmm.
