Altered Book Sketchbook

I love making handmade sketchbooks. For this class I created 2 sketchbooks giving new life to materials I've had hanging around my craft studio for years. The recycled books I had already recovered in fabric over a decade ago and then abandoned. Since I always struggle with finding the perfect paper to make sketchbooks I just repurposed the pages of a large Haeckel's coloring book. The premium drawing paper pages were perfect for making the the signatures. Some of the pages are lightly covered in the designs and others are blank.
The signatures I stitched together using waxed linen thread, my favorite for making books and I used some black thin elastic for the smaller book as I could not find my elastic cord.

Center pages of one of the signatures. Images from the repurposed coloring book pages.
Inside cover of the small sketchbook with removable signature. I used mixed media paper for the signature.
Small sketchbook sitting on the inside cover of the large sketchbook. The inside cover of the large sketchbook is black vinyl chalkboard fabric and canvas fabric tape.
