POV1 Alexander

The lock clicked on my large oak panel door, sealing me off in my quiet chambers. I pressed my ear to the door to listen to Ethelia's footsteps as she retreated down the corridor and I held my breath to aid my exceptional hearing prowess. The moment I could no longer hear her, I darted for the window. The festival of fire has already begun in the village and I've been waiting for this event all year. I climb out of my window and shimmy the wide ledge to the garden terrace before scaling down the lattices. Now, to take a horse from the stables.

POV2 Ethelia

I make my way down the halls, feeling irritation build in my chest. Does he really believe I'm daft enough to  fall for his age-old schemes? As if he hasn't tried sneaking off before without me. The sleeping early ploy is unoriginal and I truly hope he doesn't think I'll be letting him get away with it. This boy is in for a rude awakening. With a knowing smile, I rush straight for the stables.
