You nailed the painting itself! Two options for the edges: either cutting the white frame out when a lot of paint bleeds under the tape, or add white gouache all around, it works pretty well and is not that visible, but here you have a lot of paint so it might show more. Sometimes the combo tape + paper you use will work more or less, I've had kinds that let the paint bleed underneath like this too.

sadly my tape wasnt very good and the paint bled. not sure how to fix it!
