Adventurous seven-year-old Adeline has a great birthday, then gets an unexpected gift she's not too excited about. The remainder of the story is her coming to love the gift.

Adeline could always find fun things to do, but today was special. Today was Adeline's birthday.

She raced around the park on her spiffy new bike. Then she and her friends had a blast at the amusement park. Finally her mom brought out Adeline’s chocolate birthday cake and strawberry ice cream, her favorites.

Yep, birthdays were lots of fun.
