Abstract Watercolor Painting- Layers

I gathered some basic tools and materials.

I got inspired on Pinterest and chose my color palette.

Then I dove in to Layer 1 using a few of my colors while setting the boundaries for my composition.

I continued with Layer 2 adding all my colors, and started adding a second layer of color all over, keeping the composition balanced.

In Layer 3, I added more intense color in spots throughout and some rough brushstrokes to infuse some character.

Next I took a step back and decided that the dark grey shape in the center of the painting was too dark compared to the other colors. I dabbed it with water until it was light enough and didn't visually take over. (If your area is already dry, add some water and apply some soft brushstrokes. Then dab some of the paint away).

All done, and I created a few more paintings in the same color palette to start a series.
