A great creative practice!

Thanks for the class, Julia!!

I really enjoyed the activity (though the inner critic tagged along, the experimentation this simple practice provided was very exciting)!

I did the project twice.

This first one was in my sketchbook. I have just gotten watercolor crayons and this was a great chance to try them out. I loved the process of making the butterflies, and it seems like an excellent alternative to doodling flowers when "current affairs" start to feel overwhelming. I learned something about the crayons, I liked the granulating effect they seem to have.

For this second project, I used watercolor paints.

I struggled with symmetry (miss this Procreate tool in real life! 😋)

In both projects, I added little antennae and legs with a gel pen.

I can easily understand why you have painted over 50 butterflies, I can't wait to keep experimenting with it and trying out different watercolor and mixed media techniques.

Thanks for the class!
Thanks for pointing out how it is fundamental to be able to take the time to experiment with art. AI tools could make much more beautiful butterflies in a second, but no AI could give me the benefit of watching the paints mix and flow, to dust off the salt, to feel a bit frustrated, to feel joy.
Once again: thank you!
