A Week in Spain
Version 1, 7/28/14
A few years ago, I spent one of the best weeks of my life in southern Spain. The weather, the music, and the feeling were all beyond beautiful! Here's my short story to persuade someone to visit.
I went to Spain without any expectations. We'd booked the flight so quickly that there was no time for an itinerary. We just left.
And that's how we spent the week: wandering from place to place, eating paella and dates until our stomachs ached, and barely catching creaky tin buses that flew us up mountains and planted us in the sleepiest towns.
We'd get off wherever things looked interesting, and each town surprised us more than the last with plazas, cathedrals, and cafes owned by couples who charmed us with extra wine, sidelined winks, and hospitality I've never seen since.
Our last day, I dug my feet against the sand, maybe thinking that if I left something of myself there, it would make me go back. That day didn't have to be an ending.
It's been years, but I think about that week all the time. Maybe this is the year.
What do you think? Plenty of gaps, and I like the hook, but I'd love to call out more of an essential feeling and make the punchline a little stronger. And maybe make it shorter? Add a few pictures?
I'll post an update soon! In the meantime, let me know what you think, and post your own story!
