Thanks for this great class! As someone who draws female characters now and then, this class was very helpful! My favorite tip is balancing proportions by measuring with heads. Here's the layout of my canvas while drawing:

This model's top and skirt are already pretty square-ish, so I focused on marking where the shoulders and knees would go. 

I went ahead and colored it in to practice colors too. Using reference is crucial to learning proportions and this was a great exercise! Here's my final piece with colors and quick shading/background:
