Think you need a fancy camera to capture stunning images? Think again! In this four-week workshop, you’ll learn how take professional-level photographs using just the phone in your pocket. You’ll complete a series of three classes design to help you master the basics of mobile photography from selecting the right program and tools, to framing your shots, and editing with ease. The end result will be impactful photos you’ll be proud to share on social media.

Workshop Timeline:

Milestone 1: First up is Dale McManus’ primer on mobile photography, iPhone Photography | How to Take Professional Photos On Your iPhone. In this class, Dale shares how you can use your phone’s settings and specific composition techniques to capture images with depth. He’ll also share his tips on lighting and editing to create a polished final product. For your project, you’ll use your new shooting and editing skills to capture a photo on your iPhone and share it in the project gallery by January 16th.
Milestone 2: Next up, we’ll follow professional photographer Joe Greer as he shares his approach to shooting in Mobile Photography: Creating Consistent Look and Feel. We’ll learn how to capture landscapes and portraits and develop a photography style that’s all your own. He’ll also share tactical tips for post-production mobile editing with apps like VSCO. For your project, you’ll share three images with consistent look and feel in the project gallery by January 25th.
Milestone 3: We’ll close out the workshop by focusing on everyone’s favorite subject — food! In iPhone Food Photography: Capturing Coffee, Dessert, and More, photographer Adam Goldberg shows you how to shoot everyday food with beauty, symmetry, and a clean aesthetic. You’ll put your new skills into practice by photographing a breakfast spread in natural light. Share your work in the project gallery by February 4th.
