Here for the first time? Let me tell you a bit about myself: I'm Flori Fama. An illustrator and surface pattern designer from Argentina living in New York. Read how I became a Skillshare teacher & find out a lot more about me down below.

Finding unique beauty in the ordinary is my favorite focus as an artist. I've learned to honor my very nostalgic, innocent and sensitive personality through my illustrations. My love for teaching was passed on to me by my mom--I've always admired her teaching skills albeit they're from a very different field: she's a math teacher! Before deciding to teach online, I had years of in-person teaching experience: English in my country and Spanish in Poland (story time for the future!). And my love for art came undoubtedly from my dad, who has always drawn with such incredible skill--this wowed me ever since I was a kid. He also has a knack for editing home videos, which made me love playing with video editing as well. Creativity is in my genes.

I'm an avid note taker and a huge fan of reflecting on my memories, keeping them in countless journals--oftentimes I find myself reading them and making sense of past experiences. Everything I create comes from a process that is touched deeply by my skills as a graphic designer, which is what I studied and majored in. As an artist, I can't help but be inspired by florals, and animals all of the time, and I'm known for creating very intentionally distinctive color palettes.

Being an only child, I've always been regarded as a wildly multifaceted person: in the artistic arena, you'll see me dabbling with lettering, cookie decoration, gingerbread house assembly, family recipe making, photography, animation, creative writing, and incessantly coming up with new ideas.

This very reason made me gravitate towards Skillshare. My biggest hope is that through my classes, I'll be able to instill my passion for art in you and what you end up creating, and that you'll feel inspired and encouraged to bring your ideas to life and keep moving forward in your artistic journey, steady and one step at a time.

Remember: being exactly who YOU are is the key to creating wonderful things.
