Hi there!
I’m Phuong Lempinen, a Vietnamese illustrator and surface pattern designer, living in Finland. It’s always hard for me when I have to introduce myself. Let me tell you some fun facts about me:
- I live in a multiple language life with Vietnamese is my mother tongue, then I learned Russian linguistic in university in Vietnam and met my Russian- Finnish husband when I was an transfer student in Moscow, then we get married and Russian became the language that I use in daily life. My marriage brought me to Finland, so I had to learn Finnish. I communicate with people outside in Finnish. At home I learn, read and search information in English.
- My son brought me to this creative journey . I drew when I was in primary school, but then I had stopped drawing for a long time, and I thought I couldn’t draw. After giving birth, I wanted to keep moments in life by drawing our moments with my little boy. So I started to learn illustration for making a picture book for my son. I spent a lot of time to learn illustration in different online courses and time to practice. My illustrations are often stories about us. You can see some works of mine here
- I figured out surface design career when I started uploading my photos to Redbubble, then fell in love with making pattern and then decided to be a professional designer, no matter whatever it’ll take me to get there. I make in my daily life and get them published on Spoonflower, Shop Vida and my own website www.lemfindesignstudio.com. I can make pattern in different software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity Designer and Procreate on iPad. But my most favourite tool is Procreate.
- I’m on Instagram with my brand Lemfin Design. ”Lemfin” is a compound word with “Lem” from my surname and “Fin” because it is based in Finland :D Let’s be friends on Instagram!
- I started Skillshare membership by accident. I suddenly purchased for a one year membership on Skillshare and now I cannot live without it :D
- I love learning new things from people around the world and I can also share useful things with people too!
