Hi I'm Tom Clohosy Cole. I'm a 36-year-old freelance Illustrator living and working in Brighton and London. I studied Illustration at Kingston University and graduated in 2011. I've worked for years on children's picture books and in publishing and advertising. I also work as an Art Director and a Background /Concept Designer for Animation.

I'm particularly into drawing and painting environments and building worlds and creating scenes with drama and atmosphere. I love all things lighting and colour, and am drawn to artworks that tell a story and have an interesting use of values and composition. I LOVE painting skies and the natural world, it's where I get most of my inspiration and when I'm not making artwork I try and get out into nature and walk. The Lake District is one of my favourite places of all time, I can't get enough of the mountains and the changing weather, I find it super awe-inspiring to walk in the mountains and feel small and watch the light change over the landscape. If I could live there I definitely would! I'm also a massive fan of Lord Of The Rings, and the Studio Ghibli movies, particularly Princess Mononoke. I visited Japan many years ago and I got to go to an exhibition of Ghibli animation frames and found it really inspiring, I still look through the book from the show all the time. I love travel, the sea, playing table tennis, badminton, a good board game, being a dad. I'd love to hear from you so please do get in touch :)
