Hello! I’m Jen, a watercolor artist and calligrapher living in Ohio with my husband. I was a Pediatric Nurse/Nurse Practitioner for 30 years but decided to "retire" in 2019 and start my business J Sweeney Designs. I'm completely smitten by the world of watercolor. Perhaps, like me, you didn’t go to art school, but you have a deep passion for creativity. My absolute favorite tool has been the wedge brush (or closely related, the triangle brush).  Maybe you have one, and know a few strokes, but eagerly desire to fully unleash the artist within. If so, allow me the privilege to walk alongside you and demonstrate, step by step, the versatility of this brush.

As awesome as this brush is, the secret weapon though, is not the brush… It’s YOU. You are the secret weapon! With brush in hand, unleash your potential and watch your creativity soar to new heights. In my classes, you’ll be creating beautiful leaves, florals, wreaths, butterflies, and more, in a matter of minutes. Upon learning a few basic strokes, I’m confident the wedge brush will enhance your artistic repertoire. Also, since I love the look of micron pens with watercolor, I’ll share my tips that will enhance your art even more.

Not into florals or the wedge brush? No worries, maybe a watercolor house portrait is more your style. Awesome! I have a class on that too.
