Beginner Figure Drawing Fundamentals  - Figure Proportions and Balance

Ok, so good call with just focusing on one area if the page is too small.  Much better off doing that than trying to cram the whole body into a small area. I would consider getting a slightly larger pad in the future. So, overall, some good stuff here.  You're actually on a really good path with construction, you've clearly got an good sense of how forms need to be positioned, you've got the part connected together really well, so keep going with that.  What you'll want to work on most now is the execution, and drawing basic balls, boxes and cylinders is one of the best ways to help in  that regard. So, do that alongside more figure drawing practice. As for you proportions, a little hit and miss in some sketches, but most of these figure look pretty proportional balanced. Just always make sure to double check your measurements before committing to a pose, and if you're having trouble use a piece of the body as your yard stick. Before you draw in an area, spend 20-30 seconds just analysing it. Get into the habit of asking yourself measurement questions - eg;  'How long is the forearm relative to the upper arm?', 'How wide is the torso relative to the head?", etc.  The more you ask those questions out loud, the more it starts to become second nature, to the point were eventually you don't even think about it.  But good job overall here, keep this up!  Let me know if you have any questions! :)

hello! these are some note pages as well as time drawings from lessons. i redo them a lot and try not to use the eraser. this is a regular pencil and sketchpad. if i can’t fit the drawing in the time or on the page i just focus on one aspect like legs or torso. i also date them and draw an arrow so we know which way i held the page.
