star anise

star anise - student project

This was such an awesome, fast paced, fun project!

I really liked my object matter, a star aniseed.

I enjoyed exploring the lines because I haven't used my brush pens for drawing yet.

First the blind drawings. Well... The exciting thing was that I crossed the lines and breaking this very common rule brings some interest to the picture, I think.

Different ways to hold the pen:

I like the left-hand drawing, because it has something mysterious to it, I guess because the lines are so different.

Holding only the end of the pen was a very freeing drawing experience, but it did not add to the picture itself.

But drawing by holding the pen with the whole fist felt great, and I decided at a very early stage that the drawing was finished. :) Actually, this is my favorite version!

Drawing in different positions was okay, but didn't make me feel good about the action of drawing. However, it's a great way to create lines which I would probably never come up with, sitting at the table.

I liked my tiny version the most when it came to changing the size.

And finally the speed drawing, which was very fun, but I guess that I was so relaxed because by the end of this project I knew my object quite well.

I am so very happy about all these drawings! Thank you Mel, for teaching me confidence!
