Winter So Close

[Update December 23, 2023]

My final submission for this class, I guess ;)) Regrettably, once again I didn't leave the intended snowy areas unpainted. The color proved to be quite stubborn to remove, depending on the pigment. Eventually, I couldn't resist any longer and yet ended up splattering some snow flurries with white paint on top of it.

Throughout the creative process, I explored different techniques and gained valuable insights, including about myself. The initial "ugly stages" were challenging, but I'm pleased I persevered.

My warmest wishes to all of you for the holidays! <3

Winter has already arrived, both in this piece and here in Berlin ;) — titled "so close" because the shown piece was just for fun practice some time ago. Due to injury, it will probably remain that way for now, but at least I want to share it.

It includes techniques that were not planned and were not covered in the tutorial, with the focus of using salt for the background or scratching to simulate snowflakes.

What attracts me to this project, besides the subject, is the combination of tight and loose painting. Hopefully, once the circumstances allow, more will come. Either way, I want to express a big, heartfelt thank you to Evgenia for a very pleasant and relaxing class with wonderful techniques for more challenging topics like painting fur or snow. Thank you so much! <3

P.S. It's truly fascinating how watercolors continue to "evolve" even long after they've dried, like how the eyes seemed to have opened on their own...?? :o Spooky weird! Too bad I didn't take any photos of the different stages.
