What Creative Community Looks Like for Me

What Creative Community Looks Like for Me - student project

Hi friends! I'm so happy you're here and joined my Skillshare Talk on the power of collaboration as a creative. I am sharing a peek into what this looks like for me an I hope you will do the same! I would love to see how you guys gather with other creative friends, or if you sell your work at craft fairs, host or attend workshops in your areas? I'm hoping this project gallery will also be a great way for all of us to connect with other creatives and also let us know what you are up to!

When thinking of my personal creative community, out of all the stories I told you in the talk, the one that feels most special to me in this moment is Magic Jungle. If you heard my talk, you'll know that Magic Jungle is a retreat I host in Tulum with my sister Maggie and friend Nadia.

This started out as a complete passion project. My sister and I had saved enough money to make a real estate investment in Tulum (a magical place near out hometown, Cancun) and we decided to invest in a new area called Holistika. Holistika is an environmental development with a magical retreat center at it's core.

When we first arrived we immediately envisioned hosting a retreat for other creative women to help them achieve their own dreams as artists or makers. It was sort of a way to balance out this abundant energy our creativity had gifted us and give back to others on the same path.

What I love the most about Magic Jungle is not only the special time we spend together in the jungle during the retreat, but the amazing friendships that continue to grow even after we have all gone home. Since we are all traveling and flying in from different parts of the world, it's amazing to now know I have friends in different countries and cities. And not just any friends, friends who totally understand who I am and are also creative women.

So here I am, after 8 years of working so hard to develop my art brand, listening to my intuition and also really paying close to what makes me happy in this entire process (and life in general). I have figured out that not only do I love painting, but I love sharing the feelings and enthusiasm behind what it means to be thriving as an artist and share this with others.
