Week 6: Flowers for Mother's Day - student project

Week 6: Flowers for Mother's Day - image 1 - student project

Week 1: Mel, thank you so much for this fun idea of working on the portfolio. I got "Bon Voyage" and Clouds for the first week. I did not print out the promt cards, instead I saved them on my iPad and ask my son for two numbers between 1 and 20. I got "New Baby" and Buildings for next week. I planned to do a whole collection in this retro style.

Week 2: I finally finished week 2. The "New Baby" and Building combination. I wanted to stick with the retro style, and so I did. Next on my list is "Wedding" and Birds. That's a good combination!

Week 6: Flowers for Mother's Day - image 3 - student projectWeek 3: Wedding and Birds was a perfect match. Here are some of my tools: I draw on my iPadPro in Procreate, but do the repeat in Photoshop on a PC. I use the Midcentury brushes by Lisa Bardot. And all the lettering is my very own. I'm always curious how other artists work, so I like to share my tools, too. For next week I have Space and "Get Well".

Week 4: I guess I had a short week. A very short week. We are facing another school break and there won't be a lot of time for illustration work. So, here is my fourth entry: Get well and space. I think this one is my favorite so far! Next on the list is "New Home" and mushrooms. Sounds good, too.

Week 5: Now, that's a nice fit. The mushrooms make a great (new) home. And now on to the last of the six weeks bookcamp: Flowers and Mother's day. Now, that's another perfect fit! Can't wait to start.

Week 6: My favorite week! We went to Italy for a few week and that's where I drew this floral mother's day card (on my iPad). And I'm so happy how it turned it out.

Thank you Mel for putting up this great course. I really enjoyed being in it! And - by the way - congratulations on winning the Spoonflower "Animals by Air" competition!
