Watercolor plaids

This class was sooooo good! At first I was like "meh, I'm gonna skip the gouache part because it already looks good with watercolor only" (I also have a rocky relationship with gouache... it drives me nuts when it reactivates so easily). However, once I started playing in my practice sheet, I realized how much better it looked with gouache!

and so I made plaids! first 2 I used Arches watercolor paper (it's super easy to make smooth washes with this heavenly paper) and last one is cheap watercolor paper and turner's 3 primary colors. I was aiming for a soft look like Ariane's example, but it turned out more saturated than I wished for.

It's indeed very relaxing to paint these patterns. I have no idea if I will turn them into present tags, greeting cards, gift tags or something else... for now I just like staring at them! :D

Thank you Ariane!
