Watercolor flat wash
The first two pieces were done in traditional/vintage style, with wet on dry technique. I was unsure how the grooves would show up once the paper is dry. I think it looks quite interesting though.

Moon needs more color around it to shine.

The following two pieces are done in a contemporary style by first wetting the paper and then applying the paint. This time around I introduced more pigmented wash because the last wash looked a bit dull to me. Also I had to stop myself from going over and over the paper with more paint. I think it would take quite a lot of practice to discipline myself.

Failures:
These two pieces buckled under the water pressure probably because I introduced too much water and the paper was lightweight. Ideally it should be 300gsm, 100% cotton. Curiously masking tape did not rip off the edges. I had this problem in the heavier paper sheets.

Thank you Shelley for a wonderful class. I plan to practice more with better quality paper and paints. Cotton paper will definitely give me better results.
