Watercolor Wash Techniques for Beginners

I really learned a lot and enjoyed the process! Thank you for this class, Catherine! 😍

FLAT GRADED & VARIEGATED: I couldn't control the paint from spreading in the Variegated one and out came a blossom. But that's ok, i'm really appreciating both the wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet methods. 😊

PAINTING A SKY WITH BIRDS: I tried different paper 3 times! The paint would dry fast - though i kept wetting my brush - and the layers were not mingling. This last one finally worked with more toothy paper. There was a dry brush stroke but i let it be... The clouds nearly there, could be whiter but the paint was staining... Lots to learn and practice with--which is a good thing!

PLAYING WITH WASHES: I tried a 200gsm Canson paper.. I realized too late that it was smooth paper, and wasn't sure if it will turn out ok because the paint seemed to float but eventually the colors mingled... Doesn't the effect of the graded hues and layered landscape feel as if it was painted on silk?
