Watercolor Chrysanthemum
Louise, that painting was a journey! :D Not always an easy one, but I enjoyed the whole way. Thank you!
I think this is the biggest watercolor painting I've done so far, and I'm truly happy I didn't give up and managed to get this beautiful flower done.
Some process info: Right at the beginning I got a bit discouraged because my paints were behaving rather strange on the paper (you'll notice how my initial washes look more blue than purple - that's because the mix were separating in the paper, don't know why). I thought I wasn't going to achieve the right look in the end and stopped painting for a couple of days... but then I realized I could at least gain practice and improve my skills, so it would be worth it. I then focused on getting the values right, more then the colors, and was able to get through and paint with joy again.
My paper is cellulose, so I had to struggle a bit now and then... But it was worth it. There's a lot of room for improvement, but I'm definitely a little tiny better artist now then when I was when I started. I'm especially happy with the background because I managed to paint continuously all the way!
Thank you Louise for the patience and encouragement. I always enjoy your beautiful classes, learn a lot, and overcome a lot.
