I’m looking to develop my skills in urban sketching/ holiday journaling, so I chose this class to help me with that. One of my challenges is that I find it tricky to judge what level of detail to leave in/ out … I want my sketches to evoke the memory/ atmosphere of the place, whilst also being simple and unfussy, and so I really enjoyed the style of the picture being taught in this class. However I have to confess to not painting “en plein air”, but once I was back home again!!

Here are the first two pages from my journal that I completed after watching the class, and I’m pleased with how they turned out:
