Upgrading my Productivity Hubs
As a teacher, it's the start of the new academic year, so I have decided to take this workshop to boost my productivity workflow so that I can reach my goals (hopefully) by the end of this year.
Identifying my pain points:
The core of my pain points is that I have goals I want to accomplish, but living as an adult and life gets in the way of working towards them. Here are the 10 I came up with:
- groceries - I spent too much time at the store because I can't decide what I feel like eating.
- studying Japanese - my goal is to pass the JLPT N3 by next year. However, with lesson planning and life stuff, it is difficult to find energy/motivation to sit down and study.
- the current state of my Notes app - very cluttered
- limited time for creativity - I want to work in a creative field in the future, but I just cannot find the time.
- maintaining health/exercise
- household cleaning
- finances - and keeping track of them
- lesson planning - I currently jot my ideas into one Google doc, which helps my organization a bit. However, I teach at multiple schools with classes of varying English ability/motivation/energy levels. Therefore, I should think of a way to improve the organization of my lesson ideas.
- work desk - I have many picture cards from previous teachers before me I never use but still hold on to (in case for a rainy day).
- not completing my to-do check list due to laziness/tiredness/exhaustion
Overall, I noticed that my pain points are reflected of my bad habits. Instead of planning certain things and/or taking steps to motivate myself to work towards my goals, I tend to procrastinate and I do the "tedious" points instead (cooking for myself, maintaining health, getting enough sleep, etc.)
Upgrading my Productivity Hub and Workflow (Action Steps):
I decided to de-clutter and organize my most immediate, easily accessible tool, my Notes app. I'm hoping that this will allow me to track my finances a lot easier and make my grocery trips more smooth. Now all of my notes are assigned into a folder with no rogue ones floating around without a home.

Another hub I use frequently is my Google Drive. I created folders and categorically placed each document/file. I have yet to organize all of my activity ideas for different units/schools, but I've gotten started.
These are my main folders:
Next is all of my folders related to my job:
Last are contents of my "Lesson Plans" folder:
Although I didn't tackle all of my pain points, I think I relieved some of them by re-organizing and upgrading the way I work with the current applications I use daily. I hope these little changes I made to my lifestyle will make a big impact on how I work and help me accomplish my goals! Thanks for reading.
