Unleashed creativity: a tangible memory
Week 3: Mixed Media Mastery!
It has been a while since I made these pages, and I really enjoyed it again, just like in week 2! After this week, my journal was complete — and what a joy it was. I felt so proud, and I still love flipping through the pages, looking at and feeling what I made.
That’s also why it took me a little while to post this… but I’ve just finished week 4, so it felt like the perfect moment to finally share week 3 too! :)
Day 15: Treasured Timepiece

It became a bit chaotic, haha! My homemade Gelli plate didn’t react to the water, so I had to improvise. I did multiple layers, both in the print and in the collage on top. I didn’t have a clock stencil, so I made my own by pressing a pen into thick paper and then printing it on the Gelli plate. I did the same with the numbers, and I was impressed that it made such a clear print. The best print of my clock was too crisp and I didn’t like the colours, so I used a less clear one. It does look more weathered because of it!

Day 16: Nature's harmony

I really love how these prints came out! I found it difficult to add to the pages, thinking it might lose some of its charm. But, it's just an art journal, just a fun way to experiment, so I did it anyway! And I love the extra effect it gives to the leaves.

Day 17: Abstract Landscape

I felt some resistence with this prompt. I guess maybe I nust don't like landscapes in art? I did some prints on different papers and still didn't really have an idea or even liked the colours... But the tearing of paper!!! Oef, I love ripping paper! And I kept ripping... And ended up with a lottttt of long strips and just started layering them. It still isn't my faverite, but I do enjoy is.

Day 18: Tissue Paper Watercolour

This was messy! I made a blob by accident and thought of a flower. I tried to make one more deliberate, but it didn’t stand out enough. I kept on adding paint and adding paint and adding paint… and it became a bit muddy. I do love the magical feel of it.

Day 19: Black and White

I liked how open, but restriced this prompt was. Just two colours, big contrast. I used thick black paper and the thin napkin paper to also make a big contrast in paper. I also like the contrast between stripes and dots. I normally really love colour and think of myself as a colourfull person. Experimenting with black and white was really so much fun :)

Day 20: Reuse and restore

Just like the last week, I really enjoyed pulling scaps and pieces together. I used some prints of tekst for texture. I wanted to experiment with scaps of paper on the gellplate. I made the bird on the left with reused cardboard from packages, and used it as on texture plate on the gellplate. The bird on the left and the big tekst are a gelliprint of a drawing I made with scaps of crayons as resist. Again, I had so much fun just experimenting!

Day 21: Multiple Media Masterpiece

The collage of day 20 was at the last page of my art journal. I used the glossy first page of my journal to make a page of all the prompts of last week. It almost feels like an index page, haha. I really enjoyed the number prints I did in the time piece and the leaves, so I didn't feel satisfied with only the index page. I used the cover to finish this week, but also really finish my journal. And I love how it turned out. Thanks again Froyle, for you enthousiasme, joy in creating and your infectious laugh!
