Timed Watercolour Experiments

Timed Watercolour Experiments - student project

Even though I've been using watercolours for over 3 years these series of experiments really opened my eyes to the variety of outcomes that can be achieved by using different paints, papers and shifting the water to pigment ratio.

It was a eye opener to learn that even a tiniest damp spot on a wash will cause further layers to create the bloom effect. As I use this technique already i found it useful to know the drying times and the likely outcomes after the the 30/ 60/90 seconds.

This exercise was certainly worthwhile and will improve my watercolour practice further I'm sure now I am armed with in depth knowledge of this nature.  I will most likely undertake more cauliflower experiments as they were the most fun for me.
