Timber Wolf
Jane, this was another wonderful adventure with you. I selected my own photo of a wolf (below) to paint but he is very similar to the one you used. As you would say I am ‘chuffed’ how my wolf turned out.
The plastic wrap was not successful for me, I think it dried too quickly, so I fudged a little more with the body and feel like it worked out ok. For the most part I used the same paints, but added Lapis Luzuli as I could see a tint of blue in my wolf and I mixed a little Green Apatite to my ochre for the eyes.
As I learned from you I paint the ears first but the last few animals and portraits I did, I painted the eyes next. I have always struggled with getting ‘lost’ doing wet on wet, and painting the eyes gives me more perspective on where I am at.
I am starting to see my own style come through more and more and noticed I am venturing off on my own more as well. I don’t know if I’m just getting use to what I see myself, or if others can tell. but what do you think Jane? As I work at improvement feedback is appreciated.
Thanks again for a wonderful time in class :)
