The Self

Hi,
I am Barnana and these are my very first self-portraits. Thanks to Maureen Eggleton who made the art of self-portrait appear so seamless and interesting that I had to explore it the moment I completed the class.
Like Maureen mentions, there is an infinite resource of inspiration for an artist. In a time when everything is uncertain and our lives have entered into an endless cycle of repeating the same tasks every single day, it is hard to maintain sanity.
My inspiration is that state of insanity. It seems like after all a life-long bout of sanity we suddenly realised that in our most intimate moments we are all insane. Yet, there is serenity in insanity.
That is what I have tried to capture through these self-portraits. As Nietzsche would say, "One ought to hold on to one's heart; for if one lets it go, one soon loses control of the head too.”
(Note: All pictures were clicked in natural light, without any professional equipment. I preferred the black and white tone for most pictures because of I feel it reflects the theme subtly. However, I am very new to photography, have started it only a month back and I am still learning.)
