I made my first Giving Square using Drops Muskat 100% cotton yarn in four different colors with a 3.5mm crochet hook. I really enjoyed watching Jane in the Video Class making her square and explaining the process to me, but I had a hard time getting my square to look like a nice square. Maybe it’s the type of yarn I chose?

 I made a second Giving Square in a single color (I’m not a fan of weaving in loose ends) using a #4 cotton yarn with a 5mm crochet hook to see if I could get a better result. I still found it rather difficult to maintain a nice looking square.  I blocked them before taking the pictures and that helped quite a lot to shape them but you can still tell a little that they the square is “off” a bit.
