8.12.17 Update: I've since painted a new set of flowers, and I really love this approach. Here's my new floral set as a painting and a pattern on a pillow:

 

 

 

I haven't created monotones using paint of any kind in a long while, so this was both a fun and challenging project. I painted cattails because I've been drawn to wildflowers, but I think I might work on a more detailed project for this class soon. I just wanted to share my first try at painting monotone watercolor flowers for this class:
