Meet the Sun Ninja and the Moon Samurai! (I might give them actual names later, I'm getting too attached to them). The sun ninja is the protagonist and the moon samurai is the antagonist, his rival and nemesis.

I really wanted to highlight their differences and try my hand at motifs, so I used the sun and the crescent moon as motifs throughout their designs (which complicated things because of so many circles) so the hero got mainly squares and the villain got triangles as a backup motif. I also wanted to show how opposite they are from one another with some of the smaller details, like weapon choices or their face coverings.

I wanted to push myself with the shape language since samurais are usually more square with their bulky armor and better suited for the sun motif, and ninjas would naturally work better with the moon motif because of stealth, so I tried to flip both of those ideas on their heads with these two. For their personalities I imagine the ninja would be extremely good natured (maybe a bit naive), but able to fight very well, and the samurai would be ruthless but possibly have a hidden softer side (since he has some quieter softer lines, like how his jaw and hat brim are more rounded then triangle). I have some ideas for backstories or general plot but I wanted to keep it mostly simple for the assignment, and I'll probably narrow it down within the next courses. But I like to imagine these two would probably be bitter enemies until something happens where they have to work with one another against a common enemy (because I'm a sucker for the brutal-enemy-turned-ally troupes). Thanks for reading all that!

PS Would love some feedback!
