Summer of ‘77
I spent 10 weeks travelling Europe with a girlfriend. It was in the time of Europe on $10 a day. I loved street photography already then. In these shots - one in the Athens Plaka, one in the streets of Rome, and one in Oxford Street, London - I always wanted to capture the sense of place, the atmosphere of the venue. The London photo is especially fun as i shot the busker looking at him via a mirror - so i captured myself as well. For these photos, I used an small Olympus camera, on loan to me by my boyfriend. In those days we were shooting film, which was very expensive - so I had to make every photo count. What I love about these photos now is the colour and the mood of those days.
