I try to draw more whimsical squirrels. When I draw animals they are a kind of ‘predictable’. not ‘majestic’ and for me  not ‘whimsical’ at all. After finishing my first squirrel drawings, which are funny, I was not that happy with the results. So I looked to a lot of reference pictures and started again. Not with a photo, but with cartoons and photo’s. I decided what I wanted to pop out in my drawing and than I looked for a reference photo or one of my old drawings. This was for me the way to draw more ‘whimsical squirrels’.
