This staircase caught my eye from the moment I saw it on instagram. I live in Portland but when I found out I was going to San Francisco I knew that I had to capture it for myself. After talking with some local photographers in SF, I learned that this staircase is in the Mechanics Institute building and they dont allow photographers to take photos. However, I was determined to get the photo so I walked into the building alone with my camera in my bag and showed the security guard my instagram profile and explained that I've been wanting to take a photo of the staircase for a long time. He nodded and gave me the go ahead and I could not have been more excited!
