We have a snake problem at our house. Occasionally I find a garter snake but one day I was heading downstairs and saw a colorful snake coiled up at the bottom on the landing.

I screamed, closed the door and said NOPE! Let it be. I waited for my boyfriend to come home from work to catch it but unfortunately he couldn't find it. I suspect it's hiding in my craft supplies just waiting for the opportunity to strike when I least expect it.
