Place Light Source

I first found a light source using my desk lamp that had sufficient lighting. I do have a portable LED as well that I didn't decide to use.

 

 

After that, I took it into illustrator to start building out the shapes blocking out the shadow and the lighter parts of the pear using the pen tool.

I then coloured the shapes using tints of black to show the form of the pear in its simple vector form before colouring it so I knew the pear form was clearly defined. After that, I used bright bold duotone palettes to highlight the pear.
