Shay’s New Start journal - My year's word: PROGRESS

PROGRESS! Okay - this page is so messy but it works for what it is and hey - it is the very first page so now I don't have to worry about making an ugly messy page!
Starting a new sketchbook/journal - inspired by Fab!
I have started so many sketchbooks over the years but have never stuck with them -- always so concerned about finding time and subjects and the pressure would have me discarding them before long.
Fab talks about how to get around all of that - I am looking at my sketch/memory book in a totally new way!
I took pictures and sketched at home...
Now it is inked and ready for paint...
First paint applied - kinda freeing...
Stayed up and kept painting - I am glad tomorrow is Saturday...and I can not wait to start another spread...
I am adding a few more pages...just cause I am having so much fun!
I have this spread in Fatih's class "How to Illustrate Any Topic: A Watercolor Guide For Beginners" - highly recommend that class as well!
Really helps one to look at objects and scenes in a different way and he gives steps to break down any subject into an achievable sketch!
And ink:
And words...
And PAINT!
This is a new spread that isn't in the other class projects...I wasn't sure what all to put in here but I like the inked version...
This is the rough sketch
and the final sketch...
And the ink...I am growing to love this step so much...
And extra words...
And Paint! I love the saying (from Fab) "It is like I make a coloring book for myself, page by page..."
This spread is in my project for Fatih's class:
"Watercolor Sketch Journaling: Illustrations, Typography and Composition"
That class I highly recommend as well--
Rough sketch:
Final Sketch:
And Ink!
And Sar-terday spread painted!
Next spreads...I hope you enjoy!
After taking Fab's lettering class I added some pizzazz to some of the spreads too...
I really think that addition makes the title pop off the page even without the color yet - now I will play with some of the others!
And this one is painted but no spatters...
...and after I have added the spatters... I don't know if maybe the page is too busy for spatters?
I took Fab's lettering class and these are the headers since taking the class - I like that there is so much more style!
...and only a couple more spreads to fill - but still so much to paint...
...and the last full spread!
And finally -- the end page.
And that is a wrap - Thank you Fab!
