Multiply Your Patterns: 15 Practical Ideas for Growing Your Vector Pattern Portfolio

Hi Oksana  I would like to try all the ideas you have mentioned in this class. However, when I use the super magic eraser script I purchased. it erases all the motifs nicely but when it place it in the swatches to test the repeat it does not work. Because of this I can't follow you in multiplying my patterns because it does not line up when I attempt to make border prints. PLEASE HELP ME!! DO I NEED TO HAVE PLACE IT BACK INTO THE SWATCHES PANEL AFTER I USE THE SCRIPT?  I CAN STILL USE IT ON MICROSTOCK?

Dear Rochelle, you need to crop your pattern and make sure that no elements are sticking out beyond the artboard. If the elements are sticking out, delete them by hand or run the Magic Eraser script again. If Magic Eraser deletes correctly and you test the swatch and see some elements not aligning correctly, it means that you misplaced the elements designing the pattern and they are not repeated correctly. This means, that you need to practice repeating the elements correctly first, BEFORE using this course to multiply your patterns. Good luck, dear!

Hi Oksana! Thank you for answering I use the pattern tool in illustrator. I believe it is correct, but I will keep practicing. I posted a few of my designs in your Facebook group, hoping to get feedback that will let me know if something looks incorrect but so far everyone has complemented the designs. Hope they are not trying not to hurt my feelings, because I really want to get it right. I really don't mind constructive criticism. Having other views helps me learn and grow. I will go back and see what I can do because I really want to try the techniques I see in this video.

Hi Oksana, hope your are well today. I have a question. Can you please tell me how to save my leftover elements that I may  want to use them in another project later?. Not the swatches individual motifs.  Appreciate you very much. Thank you!

Dear Rochelle, great question. What I do is I create a symbol library and drag there elements that I created (flowers, leaves, hearts, trees,   ets.) that I like to reuse in my patterns. Then I save that library as a custom symbol library. I can reopen it and add to it and save it again next time I have more elements. OR you can have a folder with your pattern JPG previews on your computer and you can scroll through them and see which ones to open to copy the elements from whenever you need something. Hope this helps.
