These creatures were a BLAST to make - in the first one (the little guy on the right holding some sort of golden rock) I had fun with energetic colors and brush/pencil strokes. I really felt like 'letting loose' in this first one, and so that's what I did. I wasn't entirely sure where I was going with it when I added the hands, but then since I 'angled' them towards each other it made sense that it'd be holding something small and precious like a little golden rock. I can already feel that it's the beginning (or middle?) of a story! haha

Then for the second creature I wanted to explore a very different energy/vibe than the first. That's why I chose to create something a little more detailed, controlled, and deliberate. Giving it a clear sense of shape with the circular shell-like shapes on its tummy/back, and small details on its wing/ear/hair/whatever-you-want-to-consider-that-beige-thing-to-be. :) And then, to contrast all those 'beautiful'/delicate elements, I decided to bring in a little absurdity with the super long legs and super wide but tiny eye. :D 
I think out of the two creatures, this one's my favorite! 
But I do think they're both fun, and in their world, they're definitely best friends.
