Painting a Sailboat in Watercolour: Capturing Glow, Reflections and Calm

Such a lovely piece Jennifer and to only use the three colors fantastic!  I think they worked quite well in this painting :)

Thank you for your comments Diana. I think I should have pushed the 3 colours a bit further. It’s calm but a little dull.

I understand. I find that one of the harder things about watercolor is pushing the depth of colors.

Great work, Jennifer, your sailboats look beautiful and the reflections are especially striking. I love how youve adapted it to a 3 pigment exercise 🤩 Limiting yourself to three colours is always a challenge, but you achieved such a warm and glowing atmosphere here. The balance of tones and use of gouache bring a lovely softness to the scene, really well done.

Have been experimenting with 3 colours and white gouache. Not sure the colours were great.
