Drawing Characters: Design, Ink, Color, and Story

Thank you for all the comments you leave on everyone's work. Is there any way you could demo what you're talking about with Yasser's tree texture? I don't know about anyone else but that's something I have a hard time with. Same with random placements in general. All my stars end up looking they were placed on a grid no matter what I do.

I really like composition, particularly the use of the tree trunk. It holds all the visual elements of the scene in place very nicely. My one tip is to consider coloring over some of your line art in the texture of the tree. Or, better yet, reducing the bark lines and clustering them in sections instead of evenly distributing them across the whole surface. You've created another lovely texture in the character's sweater and the hair but the texture of the tree really dominates the composition. I hope that's helpful!Ira
