Project 1 Compostion

Playing with the cut outs was fun! I had an arrangement that I thought was nice but once I started painting I didn't like it...so I added an extra protea, then just kept on adding other things!

I did this over a few short painting sessions, and I think as I got more practice the shapes of the leaves became a bit more fluid, with slightly less faffing about. It's a funny balance of trying to just let things flow and keeping things in balance

 

Project 2 Proportion 

I haven't seen how Natalie painted these hydrangeas yet...they were quite a challenge! I got a little lost during this one, not really knowing how to capture the lights and darks..the leaves were hard too l, especially since my toddler had joined me at that stage!

Project 3 Poppies

 

This project was a real struggle for me...colours were bleeding when and where I didnt want them too. After 2 failed attempts I gave in and watched Natalie do it before trying again. I've put my first attempt followed by the version after Natalie's mesmerising demonstration
