Character Portrait Illustration in Procreate for Beginners

This is great, thank you for submitting! I can see you used the guiding lines for the face, however the circle of the head need to be bigger than the oval of the face. The circle represents the whole head, while the oval represents the face only. If you correct this, you will see that the hair will need to follow the form of the circle (think about how there's also hair on the back of your head, you need to be able to show that 3D feeling).I would also suggest practicing more eyes shapes: some can be half closed, some can be sharp and so on. Also don't forget to use a reference when drawing instead of drawing what you think the head, eyes hair etc look like. In my most recent class, where I talk about Full-Body Poses, I show in detail how to break down a picture reference before you start drawing :)Great job and keep practicing! I updated the project with the colored product, but I wasn’t sure how to do the shading unfortunately! I’ll need to work on that more

Regarding the shading, try to think where the light source is, and then it will be easier to make sense of where the shadows will form. For instance, if the light source is on the upper-left side of the drawing, your shadows will be on her forehead, just under the hair, then between the eyes and the eye brows, under the nose and a little on the right side of the nose, a little under her lips, and a bigger, softer shadows on her right cheek. Hope this helps!

Also, regarding the colors, don't use the darkest black or the whitest white in your drawings. You can use a dark grey, or a dark brown for the hair and the viewer's eye will know it's supposed to be black hair. But going for the brightest or darkest white/black means you won't be able to add lighting or shading to it, and it won't be aesthetic.
