Pretty Watercolor Pear - Sample Project

Pretty Watercolor Pear - Sample Project - student project

There's something about pears for me.  They remind me of why I started painting in the first place - for the sheer joy of the process.

Inspiration pear

I had had one of those days..you know the ones.  I needed to relax and let go.  So, I painted a pear.

It's my favorite thing about painting - getting lost in the process.  Painting a pear is perfect for that - a very familiar subject, made of easy shapes - no need to think.  I enjoyed painting this pear so much that I wanted to share it with you - so I painted another pear!

Class Pear - Layer 1

Sometimes a painting can be done in a single layer, but often it's that second layer that really adds the depth and contrast to make your subject pop.

Layer 2

Sometimes, even more layers are needed, but 2 seemed to work out well for this painting.

I like my first pear a bit better, but both are nice.  More importantly, both provided an opportunity to relax, let go, and embrace the creative process.

Happy Painting,
