Urban Sketching Tips: Painting and Mixing Shadows

The sketch of Victoria Theatre is great. The building clearly stands out because of the high contrast.For the 2nd sketch of the museum, you can see the shadows are kinda dirty. That's to be expected with certain colour mixes. Some colours don't work well together. So what I like to do is to find colours that can mix while retaining the vibrancy of the original colours. For this you will have to do lots of trial and error to find your favourite mix.As for the shadow shapes, they are good. Again, there's very clear contrast which makes it easier to see and understand the form of the building.
